Zur Landtagswahl NRW 2010

Hi,

Ich habe gerade (innerhalb von fünf Minuten) ein kleines Python programm zusammengehackt.

Das Programm schaut alle 30 Sekunden auf der Website des Landeswahlleiters nach ob ich etwas geändert hat, und benachrichtigt mit notify-osd falls dem so ist.

Außerdem gibt es ein app-indicator menü mit einem Link zur website mit den statistiken.

ACHTUNG: Das Programm funktioniert soweit ich es einschätzen kann _nur_ unter Ubuntu Lucid!

Ich habe keine Ahnung ob das Teil überhaupt funktioniert – es sollte, aber man kann ja nie wissen.

Zur Benutzung: Im archiv sind zwei python scripts und eine bash datei, die einfach beide ausführt. Doppelklick auf wahl.sh und "ausführen" sollte reichen.

Bei fehlern und korrekturen bin ich auf Twitter und Identica zu erreichen (@Stefano1337), außerdem per email an stefano.palazzo@gmail.com. ich werde mein bestes tun, schnell zu reagieren.

Da mein Laptop kaputt ist, hab ich mir jetzt einen Retro Computer zusammengebaut. Hurra...

Er besteht nur aus teilen die im umkreis von 10 metern zu finden waren. Ein Athlon 2200+, eine modifzizerte GeForce 2 Pro grafikkarte, ein gigabyte arbeitsspeicher (aus drei computern), vier festplatten von 80 bis 250 gigabyte und ein nec röhrenmonitor mit 1920x1440.

an sich sollte ich nicht meckern, zu langsam ist die kiste jedenfalls nicht. alles funktioniert hervorragend. zu laut ist sie auch nicht, ich hab damals so ziemlich das beste gehäuse gekauf. aber trotzdem, ich leide an akutem cpu neid.

Das hab ich mit der grafikkarte machen müssen:

der lüfter, keine ahnung wo der herkommt, ist mit den gummibändern die man an zigarettenblättchenpaketen findet an der grafikkarte festgespannt. wer weiß wie lange das hält. Der Originale lüfter war völlig zu mit staub.

Check how much of Sqrt(2) you could calculate using bc, and how long it would take. :-)

On my notebook, the output looks like this:

I was recently informed about the issues around Mono, the free software implementation of microsofts .net framework. Appearantly, people are worried that Microsoft will use software patents to crush the world of free software to death. Once mono has spread, they will file suit and shut down all of the linux Desktops and web services that use mono. I say it's all bollocks. And here's why:
People just assume that software patents are omnipresent. They just assume that they're a moral problem with the world of today. They forget that in most of the world, there is no such thing. Take europe for example: Not only are there no software patents, they're not there on purpose. Somebody's thought about this.
I'm not saying that software patents are a good thing, i believe they're complete and utter rubbish and have nothing to do with the intrest of the people, and of companies for that matter, but rather they enable a few companies to gain a massive advantage by means that are immoral and not of any intrest to anybody except them. But they're not an issue for the free software community around the world, they are an issue that concerns america, mainly. And a political one at that. If microsoft were to file suit and shut down mono, it would continue to exist in europe and other free parts of the world. Therefor i am not a freedom hater when i use mono.
American politics just need to get a grip on things and rid the states of that plague that is software patent law, but that doesn't automatically mean that we all musn't use mono. It's fucking great software after all. And it's free software, as in speech. Except in america, which once again shows it's power to enforce it's freedom on the world, by means more subtle than guns.
Call me a socialist or whatever, i just don't think that software patents are a global issue. I don't like them, but my opinion doesn't count in america remember.
If someone could think of a good reason not to use mono out of solidarity with the usa, i would do it. But i haven't heard one so far. Not one that would be of any positive impact, at all.

I will now have to think of something european to rant about, to make it even stevens.

The Droid Fonts i use come from google, who have developed them for their Android platform. They're free 'software' under the terms of the apache license. very good :-) I have them set really quite small and with strong hinting (they're designed to be easily readable in small sizes, and they are)

The theme is 'Dust', the icons are Tangerine and of course i've got the fancytronic2000 aka compiz activated.

The very small icons in Inkscape and on buttons (however not in menus and so on) are accomplished by a little hack, putting this: gtk-icon-sizes = "gtk-small-toolbar=16,16:gtk-large-toolbar=16,16: gtk-button=16,16"
in ~/.gtkrc-2.0

That's it. Looks fantastic, is very nice to use.

I disagree with almost everything Dinesh D'Souza has ever said, but this:
